Oyster Cottage Holiday Cottage in Wells, North Norfolk.
This gorgeously stylish old fisherman’s cottage is located just 100 yards from the harbour and nestled in the most delightful Jolly Sailor Yard, which is part of the East Quay in Wells-next-the-Sea.
With Farrow & Ball colours throughout, this beautiful cottage is everything you would expect from a seaside retreat!
Lovingly and stylishly renovated to a high standard by the owners, this little bolthole features lime-washed beams, curved walls, old floorboards and finger latch doors.
Functional yet stylish the kitchen diner comes with bespoke, painted cabinets with granite worktops. This small space has been used well, with the dual aspect windows it has a light and airy feel. We love the attention to detail, especially the eye-level open shelving displaying tasteful white crockery, the light fittings flooding the work areas with light creating softly lit areas in the evening and the metal wall art adds a retro feel to the space.
The reclaimed floorboards that run throughout the ground floor are a wonderful idea and add real character to the interior.
Moving to the sitting room, this pretty sitting room comes with a focal, wood burning stove, a comfy squashy sofa and stylish seating in a room that oozes charm. Painted in muted Farrow & Ball colours, lime-washed beams and neutral furnishings, this space personifies calm in every way.
A lovely place to sit and read a book or sit with a glass of wine after time spent exploring the North Norfolk coast. All this surrounded by tasteful accessories that further emphasis the time the owners have taken in furnishing this room.
From the sitting room you take the stairs to the first floor, a charming Norfolk Winder staircase that are indicative of older character cottages, these are indeed steep, curved and narrow. We loved them however guests need to be aware.
The master bedroom is large with a double bed, made up with beautiful linens. A feature of the room is the vaulted ceiling with exposed beams.
The separate modern shower room has a double walk-in shower enclosure, complete with rain-head shower, there is a feature skylight so you can gaze at the stars from here!
The second bedroom comes with a single bed, you also have partial sea views from the little window. We loved the flags on the wall, a very cool touch to a really nice room.
Although there is no garden, this little gem is delightful and of course you are in walking distance of all the shops and eateries that this bustling little seaside town has to offer! We know the location of this property very well, we used to live just round the corner and walked past it daily, in its pre renovation state, with our dog.
The location is great, East Quay was always our preferred area to relax as it’s much quieter and great to watch the wildlife and sunsets, this located literally at the end of the lane from the cottage.
This property is ideal for a couple looking for plenty of space, a group of friends or a family with one child or youngster.
